Choosing between independent living and assisted living is a personal and family decision. The most important thing to keep in mind is to choose a place where you or your parents are in a safe and happy environment. Cedar Lake Village is a continuing care retirement community (CCRC). We have all of the levels of care one could need, and all current residents have priority into higher levels of care when needed.

Here at Cedar Lake Village our residents do not sign a lease regardless of which senior housing option they choose. Villas, senior apartments, assisted living and memory care apartments are all month-to-month. Our residents sign an Occupancy Agreement upon move-in, which is similar to a 30-day lease that renews each time you pay your monthly fees. Residents only need to provide a 30-day notice if planning to move-out of Cedar Lake Village. A 30-day notice is not needed if the resident is in need of a higher level of care, such as assisted living, memory care or skilled nursing care.

Cedar Lake Village is private-pay for all levels of care. Cedar Lake Village’s Hoeger House, our short-term in-patient therapy facility, accepts Medicare. Good Samaritan Society – Olathe, our skilled-nursing center, accepts Medicare and Medicaid.

Every insurance plan is different. It depends on each individual’s policy. Cedar Lake Village suggests you meet with your or your loved one’s insurance agent to go over their policy. Cedar Lake Village will assist you by sending your insurance company the forms needed monthly for reimbursement.  If your insurance plan does cover costs, the insurance company will reimburse you.

Cedar Lake Village is private-pay for villas, senior apartments, assisted living and memory care assisted living. Cedar Lake Village’s Hoeger House [HEY-ger HOUS] is a short-term rehabilitation facility that helps individuals regain strength after an illness or injury. Through inpatient therapy, our therapists are dedicated to providing the highest quality of care available. Each individual receives a comprehensive evaluation and a progressive, proactive and multidisciplinary approach to therapy, helping them reach their highest functional level through physical, occupation and speech therapy.  Hoeger House also offers extended stay nursing care for individuals in need of long term care.  For more information about Hoeger House, call (913) 397-2900.

Cedar Lake Village opened its doors in October of 2001. It originally opened with only 48 senior living apartments and 36 assisted living apartments. Five years later, Cedar Lake Village finished building on its addition of 54 more senior living apartments. CLV also started construction on the villas in 2007. CLV currently has 22 villas.  CLV opened the 24 private room memory care assisted living addition with a brand new Worship and Life Center in March of 2016. 

Although Cedar Lake Village is Lutheran-based through the Good Samaritan Society, CLV does not discriminate against any potential resident based on religious beliefs. People of all beliefs call us home. Many of our residents invite their own local churches and church groups in for Bible study and lunches. Residents can reserve any of our large meeting-space rooms for personal use. CLV has daily devotionals, Bible study and Sunday services. Catholic services are also offered on-site.

Moving into a CCRC or continuing care retirement community has a multitude of benefits. First and foremost, the next level of care or assistance is available to our residents, and the resident has priority if there is a waiting list. Higher level of care units such as assisted living, memory care and skilled-nursing tend to be smaller and more in demand. Having priority into those levels of care can save you and your family a lot of stress.

Villas are free-standing duplex units around the Cedar Lake Village grounds. The Villas have attached one or two-car garages and are maintenance-free. Villas receive housekeeping twice a month, whereas the apartments receive housekeeping weekly.

Meals are not included in the monthly pricing for the Villas. Villa residents may purchase meal tickets at a discounted rate from the business office. Apartment monthly fees include two meals a day: breakfast and lunch.

The emergency alert pendant system at the Villas call directly to Phillips Lifeline for emergency services. The pendant alert system in the apartments calls our assisted living staff who check on the resident first, and then the staff can call whomever necessary.

Cedar Lake Village is pet friendly. There is a non-refundable pet deposit for up to two pets in independent living, and one pet in assisted living. Pets will go through an interview with the Senior Living Director to ensure pets are not aggressive.

Cedar Lake Village has cameras outside the facility and inside all main hallways and common areas. The security system allows us to watch the recorded security footage at anytime. Our three main entrances are locked in the evenings. Our residents use a keypad and code to come home, and guests may call the resident on the keypad and be “buzzed in”. All other doors require a building key or code to enter at all times.

Yes, you bring all of your own furniture from home to make your new place feel like home. How much furniture will fit depends on the style of apartment or villa you’ve chosen. You can take a look at our floor plans on our website, and try placing your furniture to see what will fit. You are also always welcome to come out and take a look at the apartment of your choice to measure and visualize your furniture in the space.

We do not have specialized diets on our menu. The menus do denote however whether an item is no salt added (NSA) or spicy. Our chef also prepares one dessert each day that is sugar free. It is up to our residents to decide what is best for them and their specific dietary needs. In assisted living and memory care, the staff can help recommend specific items for the resident, per their doctor’s orders.

Cedar Lake Village offers transportation to all of our residents regardless of level of service Monday through Friday. There are specific times set up for doctor’s appointments, and our transportation coordinator will take residents to their appointments within a 15-mile radius of CLV. There are also scheduled shopping trips throughout the week to places such as Walmart, Price Chopper, Target, Hobby Lobby etc. You can check our activity calendar to see where our residents will go this month.

Cedar Lake Village is a unique partnership between the Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society and Olathe Medical Center.

Cedar Lake Village offers free parking to all residents and visitors; garages are available for our senior apartment and assisted living residents at an extra monthly fee. Our villa residents have one or two-car garages and outside parking spaces as well.

Villa residents have ample closet space in their villas for storage as well as over-sized garages, which easily allow space for added shelving and other options. Four out of five floor plans available in the senior apartments have an extra storage space outside of the apartment for storing Christmas decorations, plastic tubs and other items not used everyday. Assisted living residents have closet space in their apartments but no extra outside storage.

Cedar Lake Village offers two guest rooms to families and friends of our residents. Residents reserve the room(s) through our business office. The guest room rate is $70/night.
